Jonna Smoot. A True Community Leader.
A proven conservative, Jonna Smoot is a reputable, reliable and successful businesswoman who dedicates her free time to being a community leader.
As a Vice President at a well-respected community bank, and having a solid operational background in both finance and marketing, Jonna understands what it takes to attract and retain new employers, new investment, and new opportunity to Midland County.
Through her professional work and many layers of community service, Jonna has developed a strong understanding of the region’s most pressing issues: oil and natural gas, property taxes, road infrastructure, water resources, and access to healthcare. As our next Midland County Judge, Jonna is committed to keeping county property taxes low while prioritizing essential services.
Jonna credits her conservatism and lifelong commitment to public service to the values of her large, close-knit family and specifically to her father, a venerated police officer from her hometown of Torrance, California (a Republican Stronghold). Being involved in her community from an early age, Jonna would go on to lead the City of Torrance Parks & Recreation Commission over a five-year term.
After moving to Midland in 2013, Jonna quickly immersed herself in its business and non-profit community and put her expertise to action in a wide variety of leadership roles. Jonna has since served, led and participated in the following boards: the Permian Basin Water In Energy Conference (conference organizer, event chair, and a founding board member), UTPB Advisory Board of the Shepperd Leadership Institute and its College of Business Advisory Council, Salvation Army, Midland Business & Professional Women (BPW), Midland Humane Coalition, Centers for Children, Midland Chamber of Commerce (Leadership Midland Committee) and most recently, Midland Inspires.
Jonna actively develops positive relationships and is regularly called upon to provide advice, guidance, planning and assistance across the community.
Jonna decided to run for Midland County Judge at the urging of friends and community leaders. D’Anne McNaughton served as the Campaign’s Treasurer.
